

The YWCA of Darien-Norwalk offers a variety of fitness classes and health programs.
Bodyworks
(Wednesday and Friday 8:00 – 9:00am )
To provide a variety and a balanced week of workouts for participants of all fitness levels, instructor Suzanne McCollum offers:
Step and Sculpt:
a cardiovascular workout using a step and involving fun (but not intricate) choreography. This class also includes some strength work,
an abdominal routine and stretching.
Aerobic Combo:
a multi-impact aerobic class with both high and low moves,
this class provides a cardiovascular workout which burns calories and conditions
you heart. Includes 20 minutes of strength work, using weights and resistance
tubing, and abdominal routine and stretching.
Interval Training:
an athletic, high energy workout that combines aerobic
training with intervals of weight work and power moves and also includes
abdominal routine and stretching.
Ballet Stretch
(Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm )
Instructor Susan Warren uses barre work, ballet extensions, limbering exercises and free weights to encourage good posture, strength and flexibility. A congenial, non-competitive class conducive to creating a healthy body and mind. Open to adult YWCA members and teens.
Leslie Devol's Workout
(Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:15-10:15am )
Using floor exercise routines, Leslie Devol's routines target abs, thighs, buttocks, hips and arms to produce a well toned body while building endurance and flexibility. To register for a six week session, please call (203) 972-7966.
Overeaters Anonymous
This confidential, 12-step support program is offered to those who want to gain control of their eating habits. Groups meet on Tuesdays at 6:15pm , Wednesdays at 6:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8:30am.
Mammography Screening
The YWCA hosts the Stamford Health Systems/Mobile Medical Services, which provides mammography screenings to our members, staff and women in our community. Stamford Health Systems can bill your health insurer and will send results to you and your doctor.
Wellness Programs
During the year, the YW offers a diverse selection of programming concerning women's health issues, i.e. osteoporosis, pre/post natal, PMS and Menopause.
Adult, Infant and Child CPR and First Aid
(first Wednesday each month 6:30-9:30pm
)
Learn to aid persons who are choking, drowning or suffering from cardiac or respiratory arrest. Basic First Aid is also taught by a certified American Heart Association instructor. Participants must be 12 years or over.
